South East Careers Expo & Try A Trade
The South East Career’s Day is SELLEN’s largest annual event. Starting in 2009, with 250 students attending an event at the Berwick Show Grounds. In the time since these small beginnings more than 28,000 people have attended the event, with more than 4,000 expected to attend in 2021.
The event could not go ahead without the support of our Gold and Silver sponsors, and of course the commitment of local schools to get students to the Cranbourne Race Track, who host the event each year.
In 2019, students from more than 50 schools attended, coming from as far away as Mordialloc and Knox.
With more than 120 exhibitors, it is the largest Careers event in Victoria, outside of the CBD.
More than 120 exhibitors attend this event. Exhibitors include all the major Universities and TAFEs as well as RTOs and major employers and Government departments from the local region.

South East Careers Expo 2021
The South East Careers Expo & Try A Trade brings together universities, TAFEs, RTOs, community service organisations and industry to speak with local secondary school students about post school education and employment opportunities. Students are able to engage in hands on activities such as bricklaying, carpentry, cake decoration and changing a tyre plus much more. Having an extensive range of exhibitors in attendance gives students the opportunity to learn about many and varied occupations they may never have heard of before.
The 2021 South East Careers Expo & Try A Trade on Tuesday 27th April saw over 3000 local secondary students and teachers attend with 100 exhibitors. This year saw the introduction of industry with major local manufacturers being on hand to tell students that the manufacturing industry is alive and well in our region and is providing an array of employment opportunities. Students also spoke with a comprehensive range of training providers to help them decide the most suitable post school option for them. Competitions and giveaways added an extra level of enjoyment.
The Careers Day is a great event, we bring all our Year 7, 9 and 12 students every year.
Getting to talk to universities and businesses about courses and jobs was great.
